I’m Brian Hanser and I’ve been taking photographs for as long as I can remember.

While I was growing up my parents had a darkroom in our basement where I learned to print black & white photos at a very young age. By the time I reached high school I was the yearbook and school newspaper photographer. Soon after graduation I was hired at a photo studio where I shot weddings and portraits for a few years before starting college.

I studied Photography at the University of Washington and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. It was in the Photo program at the UW where I was first introduced to digital imaging. I’m one of the few people who can boast about having digital image files on my hard drive dating all the way back to the Reagan Era. While studying at the UW I also participated in a work study program where I took photographs for The Weekly, an on-campus staff publication, as well as for the Instructional Media Services department at the U.

After graduating from the UW I was employed for three years at a commercial photo studio in Pioneer Square in Seattle. Then in the early 1990s I was recruited for a position as a sales consultant for a company that sold photo supplies and digital imaging equipment to newspapers. During the 90s I helped photojournalists around the Pacific Northwest transition from film-based cameras to digital photography.

I later worked for a digital imaging software company and then shifted to the publishing industry where I spent several years as a successful sales consultant. I retired from publishing in 2020 and built my photo studio in Anacortes so I could get back to my lifelong passion: photography.

I look forward to working with you!
